Goa, January 7, 2025 – Significant developments emerged from the Portugal-India Business Hub (PIBhub) delegation visit to Goa led by Altino Álvares. 

The discussions focused on strategic trade routes with collaborations designed to position Portugal as a gateway to European markets for Indian companies and Goa as a gateway to India for European manufacturers.

Portuguese companies also expressed readiness to establish certification agencies in India, ensuring Indian products meet European standards and enabling smoother market access.

Further, a Portuguese olive oil manufacturer expressed interest in setting up a unit in India for distribution and repackaging, signalling growing investor confidence.

The five-member PIBhub delegation attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025 explored opportunities in tourism, real estate, education, and industrial growth, identifying areas for mutually beneficial collaboration.

Plans were discussed to reinforce the dedicated PIBhub desk in Goa to support Indian MSMEs and manufacturers with logistics, distribution networks, and business setups in Portugal.

This initiative was made possible through the strong collaboration of Ambassador Puneet Roy, Ambassador João Ribeiro de Almeida, and the Embassies of India and Portugal, whose continuous support has been instrumental in bridging businesses between both nations.

This initiative, part of the broader celebrations of 50 years of India-Portugal Diplomatic Relations, aimed to strengthen economic ties and bilateral collaborations between India and Portugal.
