  • Portugal–India Economic Engagement Strengthens Across Multi-City Business Mission

India, May 2026 – Over several days in May, PIBhub participated in a coordinated series of engagements across Mumbai and New Delhi, reflecting a clear shift in the Portugal–India economic relationship from dialogue to execution. The programme brought together government representatives, business leaders, and institutional partners to advance practical economic partnerships.

The initiative began on 8 May in Mumbai with the Portugal–India Business Summit, which brought together more than 150 business leaders. The Portuguese delegation was led by H.E. João Rui Ferreira, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Economy. The discussions focused on transforming bilateral opportunity into actionable business partnerships.

On 10 May, a reception hosted at the Embassy of Portugal in New Delhi provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and continue building trust across institutional partners.

On 11 May, the delegation participated in the Confederation of Indian Industry Annual Business Summit 2026 where discussions highlighted India’s growing role in sustainability, digital infrastructure, and industrial transformation.

By 12 May, discussions shifted towards implementation. Meetings with FICCI helped reinforce existing institutional cooperation and open new avenues for business opportunities.

Engagements with Invest India provided practical insight into market entry frameworks and support mechanisms for international companies entering the Indian market.

An inaugural meeting with the Indian Importers Chambers of Commerce and Industry, promoted by the Ambassador of India to Portugal, Puneet Kundal, further expanded the institutional network and reflected growing momentum around the EU–India Free Trade Agreement.

Across all engagements, a consistent message emerged: strong political will, active institutional participation and an increasing readiness from businesses to operationalise the Portugal–India economic corridor.
